A Message from Ross
As I look back over the last four years, it is amazing to think about how far we have come. At that time, Algoma Steel was 3 years into creditor protection (CCAA) with nearly 3000 workers worried about the status of their jobs and nearly 9000 retirees worried about the status of their pensions. There was a black cloud of uncertainty throughout all of our city.
Fast forward to today and not only have we saved those pensions and jobs, but our government’s investments have ensured that companies like Algoma Steel and Tenaris will be strong for generations to come. Additionally, we have brought high-paying jobs back to Sault Ste. Marie. We are building numerous infrastructure projects throughout our city, from our post-secondary schools, to community centres, to long-term care homes, to a new residential withdrawal management site and over $10 million in funding to expand, maintain and repair our local provincial highways.
The future of Sault Ste. Marie is brighter than it’s been in decades and I look forward to continuing to build a stronger Sault Ste. Marie that my children and yours will be proud to call their home.
